When Food is Art: Exquisite Presentation at Châteauform’s Les prés d’Ecoublay

In my humble opinion, beautifully presented food is art.

Here’s my proof, a selection of photos I took at Châteauform’s Les prés d’Ecoublay location near Paris, where I attended a series of workshops.

Enticingly arranged salad bar
Enticingly arranged salad bar – heights, textures, colors, condiments and artsy props draw you in
A sumptuous cheese board
A sumptuous cheese board creates a feeling of plentifulness
A bountiful selection of fruits
A bountiful selection of fruits; it’s genius to use the coconuts as part of the display
Brownies and kiwi, an unlikely but amazingly complementary pair
Brownies and kiwi, an unlikely but amazingly complementary pair, texture-wise and color-wise
Nature's bright colors: crudités and flowers
Shapes, colors and textures create an alluring vision, and the flowers bring freshness and height
Bright vegetables accent the savory meats and crusty bread
Bright vegetables accent the savory meats and crusty breads; I almost didn’t want to disturb this tableau by taking anything, it was so perfect

Advice on food presentation is easily available on the internet, as in this article from Escoffier, and my own humble treatise on garnishing, but when I need inspiration, I think I’ll just look at these pictures and remember how these beautifully arranged culinary exhibits made me feel satisfied before I even took the first bite.
