Bay St. Louis was calling to the Grill-Meister and me, so we took a quick weekend trip to this very charming seaside enclave in Mississippi. We loved the town, as we suspected we might, but I was so busy enjoying it that I didn’t get many pictures. It’s ok, though, because we know we’ll be back. But I did get a few photos of seagulls; they looked so compelling as we drove along North Beach Boulevard where the bay meets the Gulf. At least, I thought the photo was of the gulls. But as I was cropping and editing them during our 6-hour car ride home, I realized that the real subject was the sky. I thought it was ugly and gray and one-dimensional, but it had a personality all its own in the photos.
I have so much to learn.
I should have taken more photos.

Love this! Love the art and the writing as well. I love crabs and lived near the ocean in California, so used to go and have boiled crab with lemon and butter. So delicious and such good memories. Thank you kindly.

Yes! Almost all of the local businesses I read about before visiting had an “after Katrina, we _________” story. Plucky little town!
