i once caught
a live paragraph
struggling with a broken wing
hop-hop-hopping along
(bewildered but determined)
i tried to help it
keeping it in a box
feeding it some reasonable words
but it flew away and left me
(once it got better)
now all I have
is an empty box
a feather
and the memory of some words
(that didn’t fit together)
I can relate. Some paragraphs require a whole lot of churning.
Don’t they? I have over 50 draft posts waiting for their day in the sun, because their perfect paragraphs have been too elusive.
Oh my I have almost 20 draft posts as well.
Love your poem so beautifully descriptive of so much of us writers unfinished works/articles because we can’t seem to find the right words or make the paragraphs sound just right
I never seem to do perfect, but it works for me. Some things we don’t think are perfect could mean we are trying to hard. A little imperfection never hurt anyone. Give it a go!
Thanks for the pep talk!!!!
I think good solution is to have a friend or more u can send some unfinished work to. Sometimes perfectionism gets in the way of sharing our unique creative genius with The world. What I thought was turning out to be crap my friend saw was a beautiful motivational post
I think you are absolutely right about that. I need to do it more. It’s hard to share something you’re not sure hits the mark yet, but having more than one viewpoint is golden.
Great work! Loved it.
Thank you! I had some fun with the metaphor.
