Together, we can make Dr. King’s dream a reality.
But it takes more than believing, it takes action. I’ve learned in the past year that it’s not enough to “not be racist,” I must be anti-racist and actively involved in highlighting injustice and creating a better world, along the lines of “If you’re not part of the solution, you’re part of the problem”.
This is now part of my purpose as a human, to stand up for inclusion, diversity and a fair set of systems for all, not just to believe in those ideas.
Otherwise, it’s just a dream.

Thank you for sharing these beautiful thoughts. I think, as is evident in Dr. King’s highlighting and focus on poverty, that should be certainly a tremendous focus of working today for social justice. I think to be “anti-racist” we must also be “anti-poverty” as well, seeking equality for all people to have access to life’s necessities.
@Dylan, I agree with you completely… poverty and racism are so closely tied together that it’s hard to tell which one is the chicken and which is the egg. “Classism” is also still so relevant. Only when we can view each life as valuable and worthy will we truly be free of the invisible chains that our systems inflict.
As they say in the Bible. “Faith without work is dead. “
And once again, Sir Ray, you bring an idea to me that I hadn’t previously heard, and yet feel deep in my bones. I think I might start calling you He Who Puts a Name to My Thoughts. 🙂
