haiku: hungry hummingbird

hello, hummingbird!
drink up before your journey;
~ thanks for stopping by ~

Hummingbird on Feeder (3).jpg

This hungry little beauty zoomed up to the feeder at Little House in the Rockies within two minutes of my filling it, and then posed for me for a moment.  The early bird gets the bright red go-juice! Migration is just a month away for this Black-Chinned Hummingbird.

Mindfulness is so easy in the quiet of a mountain cabin.

  • Great timing! Doesn’t it make you feel good when you get such immediate response to the feeders? We’ve spread 7 around the front and back yards to stop the aerial warfare between males – all can get recharged for their next pit stop without wasting energy fighting! Enjoy your refreshing stay ~

    • Yes, it was quite a shock! Most of the time with hummingbirds, I feel like I’m all dressed up for the prom but my date doesn’t show up! It sounds like you’ve got the right idea – multiple feeders. Thanks for the tip!
