Poem: Devils Winds Laugh While We Argue about Why

fury devil winds
torture the trees
burning and singeing
their life-giving leaves

wildheat scorches
trespassing, raging
taking no prisoners
nothing can breathe

devil winds laugh and mock -
while we argue
about why, they close off
our escape routes

heat waves will
make us heat slaves
until every green thing
is brown

until

	every

		green

			thing

				is

					brown

until

	every

		green

			thing

				is...

				       gone

Forgive the negative waves in this poem, Dear Readers, I’m just sad about what the drought and excessive heat are doing to our world, in both macro and micro ways.
