Halloween is my least favorite holiday.
It’s just not something I can get excited about.
Ghosties and ghoulies and things that go bump in the night? Not my drama.
Horror movies? Not my genre.
Mass-produced individually-wrapped candies? Not my sugar rush.
Grownups wearing garish costumes that are too tight, drinking too much and acting like toddlers? Pish-tosh, I must look away.
BUT.
Halloween is special to lots of people, for lots of reasons. I can respect that.
I can respect the wonderful pretending tradition for children, dressing up as their favorite charactors, or scary ones. My tiny grandsons are the picture-perfect representative of the BEST of Halloween, that make-believe time when grownups acknowledge that children are in charge and their drive for candy and admiration of their costumes has primacy.

I can also respect this gorgeous Halloweeny Hearth decorated by my daughter-in-law, AKA The Girl Who is Always Hungry (her identity here in the blog) or (as I have decided to call her), Mrs. Multi-Talented.

If Halloween always looked like this, I would probably like it more!

She has a wonderful eye and sense of balance! Beautiful.
I love the beautifully decorated fireplace. I am not crazy about Halloween myself but I love the fact that you can dress up as anything you can imagine; it can be real, or it can be imaginary like a unicorn or a witch. Thanks for sharing, and have a good day 🙂 Aiva xx
The little boys in their costumes are very cute!
I totally understand your mixed feelings about Halloween! It can be a lot to manage, but I love how you still find ways to appreciate the spirit of the holiday. As a <a href=“https://www.jbshandyman.com/’>handyman, my work often involves helping neighbors set up spooky displays, and I’ve learned to enjoy the creativity it brings out in everyone. Thanks for sharing your honest take—it’s refreshing to read!
