I’m in Paris.
I’ve been in a workshop all week.
We got a lot of great work done.
I had a lot of wonderful meals in addition to the wonderful conversations with colleagues.
But I’m tired. Really tired. It’s Friday at 6:00 p.m. and I could start sleeping right now and not get up ’til noon.
HOWEVER.
There’s a dinner engagement with a dear friend and colleague and his wife, at 7:30. I need to get my mojo back!
I landed on YouTube via a link when I was reading about the restaurant, and then YouTube pushed this unrelated to me, which in turn pushed me back to Happy & Energetic Kim.
Oh my friends, you must take a listen.
It’s a from concert I attended last year, one of the last few I enjoyed at the University of Miami while my son was getting his Master’s and then his doctorate in Jazz Arranging. He did the arrangement for the tune. Here’s the description.
The Henry Mancini Institute Orchestra performing Thomas Wenglinski’s arrangement of the Egberto Gismonti composition “Lôro” as part of the Frost School of Music’s celebration of the music of Brazil featuring Anat Cohen (and Frost dean Shelly Berg) on April 19th, 2024, under the direction of HMI Artistic Director Maria Schneider.
I was BLOWN AWAY by this tune when they played it; I cried because it was so lovely and I was so proud of his arrangement.
I played it just now, and I cried because it is still so lovely and I’m still so proud of his arrangement.
And I’m jazzed up and ready to have a great dinner with great friends in the City of Lights.
Give this tune a listen, my friends – you won’t be sorry, and you might even get some mojo, like I did.
Enjoy!!!
