My American friends, if you had turkey for Thanksgiving, you’re sitting on a gumbo gold mine.
Turkey leftovers make great gumbo. I mean, FABULOUS.
You can use the dark meat, white meat, even the skin, and transform what’s left of your Thanksgiving masterpiece into a new work of culinary art. You can boil the bones for a quick stock and your gumbo will be even richer and more turkey-like.
Trust me on this! I’m the Duchess of Leftovers and also a Gumbo Goddess. 😁
Here’s our recipe, just waiting for you to give it a try, substituting turkey for chicken. You can serve the gumbo alongside those leftover yeast rolls, and even substitute stuffing or dressing for the rice.
You can even have a gumbo-making party with the fam, like we did a few years ago. It’s a really sweet memory now that Dad is gone.
Spice up the last two days of the Thanksgiving holidays with this gumbo, and you’ll want to send me a thank you note.
(And if you didn’t have turkey or aren’t in the US, you’ll still want to thank me if you make this gumbo, after your family thanks YOU!) 😊
