The Christmas holiday time with family was over, the days-long series of festivities successfully executed and enjoyed by all. We were riding on a holiday high, because everyone was so joyful, gracious, generous, contented and connected. And fun! The laughter was constant.
We found ourselves alone on the evening of the 27th, an empty nest after our numbers having swelled to 23 at times. What to do but have a recap and reflection session during Happy Cocktail at the Tree House? We broke out a fancy tin of mussels in escabeche The Grill-Meister had found in his stocking, spread some crackers with leftover paté from a party, added some fruit so we could pretend to be healthy, grabbed our adult beverages and lit the firepit in the Tree House at twilight.

Our R&R and reflections conversation at the Tree House inspired this short poem. It’s not fancy or clever, but heartfelt.
After the Hustle and Bustle and Joys
After the hustle
And bustle and joys
After the gifts
For all good girls and boys
After the playing
With toys that make noise
The family is gone
But the memories linger
Christmas was fabulous –
A real humdinger!
After the hustle
And bustle and joys
We head to the Tree House
With cocktails and snacks
To reflect on our blessings
(Not just to relax)
The best holiday ever –
Joy to the max!
I hope your holidays were / are everything you wanted and more, and that all your New Years dreams will come true.

Thank you! I’m learning to appreciate the little moments as well as the big ones.
