Anyone who has spent any time on the Glover Gardens blog knows that Wednesday is not just Wednesday: it’s Sandwich Wednesday.

That’s the day The Grill-Meister is responsible for dinner (although he’s very handy on other days, too), and I’m blessed because he prefers to take requests. Woohoo! It’s usually a panini but can be other types of sandwiches, too, or even a pita or wrap or avocado toast variation. The Grill-Meister is very handy with a sandwich, having owned a deli and burger shop during a hiatus from corporate jobs a couple of decades ago, and we’ve got a growing collection of recipes in our Glover Gardens Sandwich Wednesday archives; check them out here. For me, a Grill-Meister Sandwich Wednesday Sandwich is the ultimate comfort food.
Today is Wednesday!
But I’m on a business trip and won’t have the pleasure of a Grill-Meister creation. I was just sorting through pictures while on the plane and saw a few of his most recent successes, which made me salivate and inspired me to share. I wonder if I can find a good panini in Santa Barbara?
This one has become a standard. That turkey sub pic below is from a few weeks ago, and it graces our Wednesday table at least bimonthly.

It’s a Jeff Mauro recipe, and you can read about the cookbook it came from (and more Sandwich Wednesday ravings) in the post below.
Then there’s the shrimp BLT, from just last week.

The recipe for this one was published back in 2020, and it’s also a regular in the rotation.
The final one I’ll share with you (and reminisce / salivate over) today is from early April, after a trip to Gumbo Cove yielded a wonderful crop of fresh crab from our generous neighbor’s crab traps. What to do with excess crab on a Wednesday? Hmmmmmm… how about a panini with bacon, cheddar and crab salad?

We found a recipe and altered it somewhat, and haven’t yet put it in the blog. But you can find the original here: Bacon Crab Melt Panini.
In looking at the pictures, I found my request for next week. I want to revisit an old favorite, the Tuna Steak BLT. It’s grilled, it’s a panini, and it’s awesome. And I have some brand-new pepper jelly to use as a condiment. (Are you listening, Grill-Meister? 😁)
What would be your sandwich of choice on this Sandwich Wednesday?

These ones seem to be fantastic. My ones use to be more simplier…:-) Anyway I like some cheese within, then adding a bit cheese and some chese on the top as well… that’s all I think…:-D
Sometimes the simplest is the best! But you do remind me of how lucky I am to have bespoke gourmet paninis on a weekly basis. 😊
Oh! This is truly extraordinary! Just go on, we like it. 🙂
