Seeds of Change

autumn signposts
a cooling respite
please bring change
Acorns

On a walk, these acorns called out to me to take their photo. They seem so perfect and earnest, maturing as they get ready to fall. Will they become trees? Or food? Or compost?

There are so many unknowns these days. But seeds of change are being sown, and autumn can bring a welcome respite.

Updated in September, 2024 for submission to the dVerse Poets Pub prompt, Poetics Fall (in) Love.

Four years later, many changes have come, and many more seeds of change are being sown. But there is still so much need for that welcome respite that autumn brings—and longing for relief from much more than the summer heat. I feel the plea of the haiku even more strongly now: please bring change. Please.
