We’re in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi at Gumbo Cove for a bit of R&R after some intense times this fall. There are many things to celebrate:
- The Grill-Meister’s birthday (today!)
- Winter Solstice (also today!)
- Christmas in just a few days
- Being happy, healthy, hale and hearty (hopefully, every day)
It’s beautiful and peaceful here, and we feel like nature—the birds, the sun, the water, the sand and the sky—are our gifts for these occasions. Particularly the sky: it’s luminous, intoxicating, and just can’t take a bad photo, so I wrote a haiku to honor it.

weightless gossamer soaring
vast lustrous bird-dreams
