Peaceful in Mississippi

We left “the siege” (the kitchen remodel) behind for a few days to head out to Gumbo Cove, where the power is now (finally) restored after Hurricane Ida. We’re finishing the post-hurricane cleanup, but also just enjoying the vibe.

Friday night was lit up with a seafood boil. We caught the crabs in our trap right off the dock!

Chardonnay from Brown Family Estates went very well with the spiciness of our boil. Brown Family Estates made history as the first black-owned estate winery in Napa Valley back in 1996, and I don’t know how I didn’t know about it until last week. Next time I’m in Napa Valley, this place in on the list.

In between our chores, we’ve had time to sit on the dock, walk on the beach, eat by the water and watch the birds. There’s a peacefulness here.

Wishing you peacefulness and a happy and safe Halloween.
