The title for this post is a bit of a misnomer…there’s not yet a Glover Gardens Cookbook per se, but a collection of recipes is steadily growing here in these pages. The original impetus for the Glover Gardens blog was to publish family recipes as I was documenting them, since it was taking waaaaaay too long to compile them into a ‘real’ cookbook. Over the years, the blog’s purpose morphed and grew and the title changed from the Glover Gardens Cookbook to simply Glover Gardens (check out my About page), but cooking and recipes remain a signpost. My blogging has been very part-time, averaging only about one post per week this year, so it’s really validating at this time of year to see my appetizer recipes get increasing numbers of clicks. They’re ‘trending’, at least within this blog. 😎
I checked on the stats this morning and was delighted to see the following recipes rising in popularity. They are all family faves at our get-togethers. I hope you’ll be tempted to click!
What do these recipes have in common?
They’re all fun finger foods that rely on fresh and flavorful ingredients.
They’re festive without being fancy
They’re substantial without being overwhelmingly rich.
In other words, they’re perfect for an informal holiday party—or any party. The pic below is from a late summer party at Glover Gardens, and several of the recipes in this post are on offer: there are two versions of the Tuscany-Texas Goat Cheese Spread in the front left corner, one labeled “Spicy”; Peppercorn Beef Sausage is on the charcuterie platter, near the salt and pepper grinders, and Nancy’s Marinated Shrimp is the white dish in the back right corner. As I said: family faves!

Let me know if one or more of these recipes ends up on your party menu this season! I’d love to feel like a small part of your holiday celebration.
Do you have a favorite party appetizer to share? I’d love to hear about it in the comments.
