Trying to be more mindful of nature, I found myself looking at leafless trees with renewed appreciation when I was in London last month.
They’re actually quite beautiful.
These trees that shed their leaves annually provide shade in summer, but in winter, they frame the landscape or cityscape, delicate and lacy while at the same time sturdy and lasting. They are suffering the cold of winter, too, but hold the promise of spring.
A tree-inspired haiku:
leafless winter tree beautiful austerity sings its hope to me
