My sister and I were in the Glover Gardens test kitchen again yesterday, updating and perfecting an old recipe of my Mom’s for jalapeño poppers. We were 100% successful and just needed another taste profile to have with the Grill-Meister during Happy Cocktail at the Tree House, so we quickly paired some beautiful Marigold plums with balsamic vinegar. Score!!! It was a reminder that dishes don’t have to be complicated to be good.

The sweetness of the plums balanced beautifully with the tart, silky-rich Black Mission Fig balsamic vinegar, and the salt gave it a zippy little punch.
Plums with Balsamic Vinegar Recipe
Cooking time: 5 minutes; serves 4 when paired with another appetizer
Ingredients
- 3 or 4 ripe plums – we used Marigold
- 2 tbsp balsamic vinegar – we used Black Mission Fig
- Pinches of sea salt – we used pink Himalayan
Instructions
Wash the plums and slice them, discarding the pits. Toss in a small bowl with your choice of balsamic vinegar. Transfer to a serving plate and sprinkle sparingly with course sea salt. Serve with toothpicks.
So Easy and So Delicious!

The plums were a perfect pairing with our peppers for a very satisfying Happy Cocktail at the Tree House.
